Israel’s sin and God’s mercy.

Judges 10:1-18

A brief summary was given of two Israel leaders after the villainous Abimelech. We had Tola who ruled for twenty three years, and Jair who ruled for twenty two years. Not much story were however told of them.

Israel however sinned again against God by worshipping other gods. This time around, he sold them unto the hands of the Philistines who oppressed them for eighteen years. The distress led Israel back to God, and they cried in repentance again.

This time, God reminded them of all the many times he had delivered them, while they kept turning against Him. He told them to run to their gods and see if they will deliver them. Israel surrendered to God, and told him to do with them as he pleased. They put away they gods and served the Lord. The Lord’s soul was grieved for the misery of Israel, He is indeed a merciful God.

What happened next after this experience? Israel prepared to go to war, but they need a leader. Who shall arise first to war against the Ammonites?  We continue tomorrow.

Some verses to remember

Vs :16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
