Saul made King

I Sam 10:1-27

Today Samuel, having had Saul apart to himself, poured oil on him and anointed him king of Israel. He also told gave him some signs of the things that would happen immediately Saul had left him. Hw would meet with two men who would tell him the lost assess had been found, he would meet three men with kids, loaves of bread and wine, and they would give him two loaves. He would also meet with a company of prophets and the Spirit of God would come upon him and turn him into another man, and he would prophesy with them.

What impresses me most about the signs and prophecies Samuel gave Saul was the extent of their details. This was not guess work at all, they were indeed very detailed specific revelations from God, and none of them failed to come to pass. The happened exactly as Samuel described. What bigger sign from God does Saul need than the confirmation of these things.

Samuel also gave Saul other instructions to go before him to Gilgal and wait there seven days for Samuel to come offer offerings. When Saul left Samuel, all the signs came to pass, and most remarkably, he prophesied with the prophets, to the extent that others wondered and said, ” Is Saul also among the prophets”?

Later Samuel came to all the people in Mizpeh to choose the king. The tribes were assembled, Benjamin taken, and Saul was taken from the family of Matri to be king. He had however gone into hiding, but was fished out, and presented to all the people by Samuel as king. “God save the KIng” was the roar though some sons of Belial wondered how the king would save them and despised him. Saul however held him peace and composure.

Samuel laid the foundation for the kingdom and how it would be ruled, and he had everything documented in a book.

Some verses to remember

Vs 9: And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

Vs 11: And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

Vs 24: And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.
