1 Chr 23:1-32
As David became old, and prepared to hand over the kingdom to Solomon his son, he gathered all the princes of Israel, the priests and the Levites together. Attention was then given to the Levites and their divisions, with families and responsibilities.
The Levites were largely responsible for services in the temple, and David was really keen on this as he prepared to depart life. they were responsible as officers, judges, porters, instrumentalists and musicians. The three main divisions were according to the sons of Levi : Gershon, Kohath and Merari. So the Levites were numbered or chronicled according to this.
The Levites would be responsible for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts and chambers, in purifying the holy things, standing also to thank and praise God morning and evening, offer all burnt sacrifices, and generally keep charge of the tabernacle.
David gave attention to the temple before he died, he wanted everything to be orderly. How passionate are you about God and His house?
