2 Chronicles 17: 1-19
You are welcome back! You might have been wondering why we have had no new post for a while? The reason is not far-fetched. Most of the history highlighted in 2 Chronicles so far (Solomon, Rehoboam, Jeroboam….) have already been dealt with or spoken about in our study of 1 Kings, So in order to avoid repetitions, they were omitted. You will do well to check the study on 1 Kings.
In today’s study, Jehoshaphat took over from Asa his father as king in Judah. We were told that he walked in they ways of God as David did. He sought God and and obeyed his commandments, so God established his kingdom. He also took away the high places where people burned incense to idols.
God granted Jehoshaphat peace so much that even the Philistines brought gifts to him. Indeed, when a man’s ways pleases the Lord, He would cause even his enemies to be at peace with him. We do ourselves a lot of good and favour when we seek to please God.
Will you seek God?
Some verses to remember
3-5: And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim; But sought to the LORD God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel. Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
